Under the Sun

This series of paintings were made when I was studying at the Willem de Kooning academy in Rotterdam. Initially I planned to graduate with this series but eventually, for my graduation, I developed series " Indirection". The “Under the Sun” series is surreal with cartoon-like features. The mood of these paintings is quite dark. With these paintings, I tried to expose the demons that I was struggling with.

This series of paintings are painted in the period from 1998 to 1999.

Deze reeks schilderijen maakte ik toen ik studeerde aan Willem  de Kooningacademie. Aanvankelijk was mijn plan om met deze serie  zou af te studeren maar uiteindelijk studeerde ik af met de serie “Indirectie”. Deze reeks is qua stijl surrealistisch en cartoonachtig. De stemming van deze schilderijen is nogal duister. Met deze schilderijen poogde ik de demonen bloot te leggen waarmee ik worstelde.

Deze reeks schilderijen zijn geschilderd in de periode van 1998 tot 1999.
